Unity Consciousness: Global Confrontation with the Elephants in the Room

London, UK - 13th October 2011, 10:25 GMT

Dear ATCA Open & Philanthropia Friends

[Please note that the views presented by individual contributors are not necessarily representative of the views of ATCA, which is neutral. ATCA conducts collective Socratic dialogue on global opportunities and threats.]

We would like to thank each one of the ATCA 5000 distinguished members who took part in the second-in-the-series 10th anniversary Socratic dialogue on 12th October 2011 in Canary Wharf, London. Above all, the Socratic dialogue was honest and intrepid. We dedicate the poem "Mind without fear", by the Nobel laureate Tagore, to our fearless distinguished members working tirelessly in more than 120 countries around the world. Thank you!

Mind without Fear

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up
into fragments by narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason
has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action --
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.

Key Conclusions

1. Water is our most precious resource and it is the liquid gold of the 21st century.
2. Movements like Occupy Wall Street are symptomatic of a larger disenchantment and conflict with the present system.
3. Are we leaving the planet for generations to come in no worse shape than we found it? Obviously not! Why not?

Fundamental Questions

1. How do we arrive at decisions as a globally conscious society?
2. Why does a concatenation of short term decisions pave the way for a fragmented future?
3. What is the one over-arching theme that binds us all?
4. Our over-emphasis on "democracy" as "religion" may not be working?
5. What role do education and awareness play in building a more sustainable world?

Potential Solution

Perhaps to recognise Cicero's two thousand year old wisdom: "Omnia vivunt, omnia inter se conexa!" or "All is alive, all is interconnected!" There aren't any multiple elephants in the room, there is just "One Elephant" and that elephant is us. There's no Earth and Humanity as separate entities. Via our tight interconnections, we are One with everything and All is essentially One! This quantum jump in our perspective and awareness, towards unity-consciousness and recognition of non-duality, could potentially propel us beyond conflict towards harmony. This fundamental change in our collective consciousness -- with or without the myriad crises -- has the potential to bring about a new enlightenment, a new awakening! Once our perspective is balanced, solutions arise elegantly, automatically!
